DocHawk Platinum™ Support : Get Started with DocHawk™

After you have installed the DocHawk™ client application, please go into the application and select the "Get started with DocHawk" menu item.

Three settings needs to be verified. "Required setting 1 of 3" states a valid e-mail address of yours. "Required setting 2 of 3" indicated whether or not your BlackBerry® is affiliated with a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server. "Required setting 3 of 3" is where you select the method of connecting to the Internet. To change the third setting, please select the currently selected item, push the thumbwheel and select "Change option". Now select your service provider configuration. Once you have defined these settings, push the escape button (the little button belong the thumbwheel) and save changes, if asked.

The first setting is for your e-mail address. The second indicates whether or not you are behind a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server.

The third setting is used to indicate your service provider configuration.

You should now see a screen with two shades of gray. We will now do a test handshake with the DocHawk Server™, so push the thumbwheel and select "Get document list". If you are prompted to allow HTTP access, all all HTTP connections and click the "Allow..." button. That prompt should never appear again. In a few moments, you should be informed that the service is now ready to handle submissions directly from your e-mail.

Now we will make a submission to DocHawk™. Please push the escape button again and go into your e-mail inbox. Highlight an e-mail which has a supported attachment file type, push the thumbwheel and select "Open with DocHawk". A prompt will appear and all you have to do is push the "Submit" button.

The DocHawk™ application will now appear and provide an indicator for the status of processing for your submission. This display updates itself every fifteen minutes. Your most recent submission will appear at the top of the list.

When the document entry appears with a green arrow, this means that it is ready for graphical retrieval. Push the thumbwheel and select "View page 1". In a few moments, the first page of your attachment will appear. Please note how you can change the zoom level by pushing the thumbwheel and selecting another zoom level.

That's it!

Something else which may be useful to you is DocHawk™'s ability to store pages locally onto the BlackBerry®. This is particularly effective for BlackBerry® users who do not always have access to the service provider's data network, most likely due to poor network coverage. To take advantage of this, whenever you are viewing a zoomed view of page, push the thumbwheel and select "Save page locally". Anytime in the future, even if you have no network coverage, all you have to do is select the "Go to saved pages" menu item, and your saved pages will be available there.
